ISO 9001 is the international standard that establishes criteria for creating, implementing, and maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS).  Regardless of the business’ size or activity, this standard can be adopted as a basis by any organization.

Implementing a QMS aligns business processes and ensures they are understood by all members of an organization, increasing productivity and efficiency. Thus, this improves the image and credibility of an organization towards foreign clients and investors, as it enhances efficient management by ensuring the quality of the products or services provided.

An effective QMS helps an organization to focus, organize, and systematize its processes for management and continuous improvement, which represents significant cost savings and greater efficiency. Also, it helps find improvements and saves resources by identifying individual processes and their interactions, and contributes to customer loyalty by focusing on identifying and meeting customer requirements.

Nevertheless, not all organizations achieve the same results when implementing a QMS. Leadership and commitment of senior management are key factors to increase the members’ motivation of an organization and improve the management system efficiency.
