Value Stream Mapping is a technique used to visualize the entire process of a product or service, understand the flow of information and/or material for the development thereof, and identify process activities that do not generate value.
But what is value streaming?
According to the organization context, value flow comprises the steps required to make available a product and/or service the customer needs.
VSM requires following certain steps, such as diagramming the development flow of a product and/or service, describing the resources and information that influence the process, analyzing what can be improved, and seeking to reduce and eliminate waste at all times in a way that it does not affect the business or the value delivery of a product and/or service.
This technique is widely used to formulate improvement plans in complex processes, supporting the process diagnosis and the proposal of improvement strategies. It also allows for generating competitive advantages for the organization.
